En una operación realizada por los británicos en las islas Lofoten en 1941, cuyo nombre fue Operación Claymore, contra las tropas nazis, lograron destruir 11 fábricas, 4 millones de litros de petróleo y 5 barcos. 314 nuevos voluntarios fueron creados para las fuerzas de Noruega Libre y capturó 60 colaboracionistas, 225 alemanes y un juego de códigos cifrados por la máquina Enigma. Sólo hubo un herido, y fue un accidente, ya que el mismo se disparó en el muslo.
